London born soprano Jay Britton began her operatic training at the age of 18 studying for a degree at the Royal Academy of music. She went on to study for her masters at the Royal College of Music where she was awarded a scholarship for her second year’s study.
Solo oratorio engagements include Handel Messiah, Samson, L’Allegro, Haydn Nelson Mass, The Creation and Little Organ Mass. Vivaldi Gloria, Poulenc Gloria, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Brahms Requiem, Britten Ceremony of Carols, Mozart’s Requiem, Mass in C Minor and Solemn Vespers, Orff Carmina Burana, Faure Requiem, Durufle Requiem, Rutter Requiem, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Bach Magnificat, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion, B Minor Mass, Dvorak Mass in D, Bach Coffee Cantata, Bach Jauchzet Gott, Mendelssohn Elijah, Jenkins The Armed Man, Charpentier Te Deum and many more in prestigious venues at home and overseas including Westminster Abbey and The Royal Albert Hall in London, Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome and St Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.
Operatic roles include Pamina (Die Zaubeflote) Guildford Opera, Michaela (Carmen) for Brent Opera, Ann (The Rake’s Progress) for the RCM, Mrs Grose (The Turn of the Screw) for RAM.
In addition to her work on the concert platform, Jay works alongside families and funeral directors to provide music for the bereaved, performing at funerals. This is something she has developed a great passion for. She has forged a reputation within the industry and had articles published in the Catholic Newspapers discussing the importance and impact of music as a part of the funeral service. Her post graduate studies were kindly sponsored by F. A. Albin and Sons funeral directors.
